No Child Left Behind In January of 2001, President Bush
signed into law the reauthorization of the Elementary and
Secondary Education Act. The new version of this act is
commonly referred to as No Child Left Behind (NCLB).
NCLB has four essential elements:
1. Accountability for results
2. Emphasis on doing what works based on
scientific research
3. Expanded parental options
4. Expanded local control and flexibility
