CARSON CITY, Nev. –The U.S. Department of Education (USED) today recognized three schools in Nevada as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2021. The three schools are:

  • Charlotte Hill Elementary School, Clark County School District
  • Frank Lamping Elementary School, Clark County School District
  • Pinecrest Academy of Nevada Inspirada, State Public Charter School Authority

Charlotte Hill Elementary School and Frank Lamping Elementary School are recognized for the “Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing” category, and Pinecrest Academy of Nevada Inspirada is recognized for the “Exemplary High Performing Schools” category.

“Congratulations to the students, educators, staff, families, and other members of the three Nevada school communities receiving this exceptional recognition,” said Governor Sisolak. “These schools have achieved academic excellence and will serve as models to all Nevada schools.”

“The tireless work of countless dedicated school community members contributed to the recognition of these three Nevada schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools, and I commend each and every student, educator, and school family member,” said Jhone Ebert, Superintendent of Public Instruction. “It is highly impressive that these schools have earned this recognition, and we are thrilled to celebrate them.”

The Nevada schools recognized are three of 325 schools nationally. This recognition is a national award given annually by USED, and is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups. Schools can be recognized in one of two categories:

  • Exemplary High-PerformingSchools are among the State’s highest performing schools as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests.
  • Exemplary Achievement Gap-Closing Schools are among the State’s highest performing schools in closing achievement gaps between a school’s student groups and all students.

The mission of Charlotte Hill Elementary School is to take responsibility for the academic, social, and emotional growth of every child to be college, career, and citizenship ready. The school’s namesake, Charlotte Hill, founded Friends of Channel 10 to raise funds to support Vegas PBS and was well-known in the Las Vegas community for her philanthropy, volunteerism, and commitment to educational organizations.

Frank Lamping Elementary is committed to excellence in education, with a mission to provide a caring, positive, and safe learning environment where each child is challenged to achieve commensurate with their ability and is provided enriching experiences that foster personal integrity, respect, and responsibility. Lamping Elementary is named in honor of Frank Lamping who is perhaps best known for helping to establish the middle school concept in the Clark County School District. Mr. Lamping gave Clark County 30 years of dedicated service prior to his retirement.

Pinecrest Academy of Nevada Inspirada is a K-8, nationally STEM certified, public charter school in Henderson. The school’s purpose is to provide a safe and nurturing educational environment that maximizes student achievement and fosters respect for all, and its mission is to unite the community to prepare students for college and career. Their educational program is modeled after specific innovative learning methods and strategies that have proven successful in raising student learning and achievement.

All three schools were nominated by the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) in February 2021. The coveted National Blue Ribbon Schools award affirms the hard work of educators, families and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content. Now in its 39th year, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has bestowed approximately 10,000 awards to more than 9,000 schools.
