    Nevada Department of Education Accepting Applications for Two $10,000 U.S. Senate Youth Scholarships

    CARSON CITY, Nev. – The Nevada Department of Education (NDE) is now accepting applications for the 2019 U.S. Senate Youth Scholarship Program (USSYP) sponsored by the William Randolph Hearst Foundation.

    NDE will be selecting two delegates to represent Nevada at an annual, week-long, all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. in the spring of 2019. Delegates will meet with senators, the president, a justice of the Supreme Court, and others, and they will receive a $10,000 undergraduate scholarship from Nevada’s senators.

    Interested juniors and seniors who are currently serving in appointed or elected positions in school government or another civic organization should contact their school’s guidance counselor or principal. Applications must be sent by the student’s high school no later than Friday, October 12, 2018.
