organizations, and correctional institutions.
Adult High
School Programs
Public school
districts in Nevada provide adult students with an
opportunity to earn an Adult Standard Diploma. Adult High
School Programs also provide instruction to help adults pass
the Nevada Proficiency Tests and the GED tests. Most
programs also offer English as as Second Language
instruction.
The tests of
General Educational Development (GED Tests) are designed to
measure the major and lasting academic outcomes students
normally acquired by completing a typical high school

English as a
Second Language Programs (ESL)
English as a
Second Language classes are offered by most of Nevada's
adult education providers. Classes are usually free. Some
programs may also offer classes in citizenship and civic
participation.
Adult Basic
Education Programs (ABE)
Providing adult
basic education and literacy services in order to assist
adults to become literate and obtain the knowledge and
skills necessary for employment and self-sufficiency.
