Nevada Department of Education Accepting Nominations for Nevada Teacher of the Year Program

CARSON CITY, Nev. – The Nevada Department of Education is currently accepting applications for the next Nevada Teacher of the Year until September 14 at 4 p.m.
“If you know any educators who are totally dedicated to the success of their students, make sure they are nominated for this award,” said Steve Canavero, Ph.D., Superintendent of Public Instruction. “This is not only a chance for Nevada to profile one of its best, it’s also an opportunity for this individual to participate in a year’s worth of professional research and growth in our teaching profession.”
Sponsored by the Council of Chief State School Officers, the Teacher of the Year serves as an ambassador for Nevada teachers, participates in professional development opportunities, and plays an active role in education policy discussions at the district, state, and national levels. All state winners compete for the National Teacher of the Year award and get to spend a week in Washington DC, which includes a White House ceremony.
If you would like to nominate an educator, fill out the nomination form at Teacher of the Year nomination form. Those nominated will be contacted and provided the application materials.
