Nevada Department of Education Nominates Three Blue Ribbon Schools for National Recognition
CARSON CITY, Nev. – The Nevada Department of Education has nominated two Clark County School District (CCSD) schools and one State Public Charter School Authority (SPCSA) school as 2021 National Blue Ribbon Schools.
Charlotte Hill and Frank Lamping Elementary Schools are nominated for the “Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools” category and Pinecrest Academy of Nevada Inspirada is nominated for the "Exemplary High Performing Schools” category.
“We are proud to celebrate the work of the educators and administrators at these outstanding schools who are committed to providing high-quality learning opportunities for our students,” said Jhone Ebert, Superintendent of Public Instruction. “Nevada’s Blue Ribbon nominees demonstrate what school communities can achieve through the collective dedication of teachers, support professionals, administrators, students, and families.”
“The Clark County School District’s teachers, support professionals, and administrators are working hard to close achievement gaps even in the midst of a pandemic,” said Dr. Jesus F. Jara, CCSD Superintendent. “I am proud our schools are being nominated for a prestigious honor and I thank our educators for their commitment to ensuring all students receive a high level of education.”
“We are honored to be nominated as a National Blue Ribbon School,” said Jennifer Reynolds, Principal of Charlotte Hill Elementary School. “This nomination is a testament to the hard work of our students, staff, families, and community partners. We are proud and excited to be recognized for the outstanding growth that our students have achieved.”
"We are honored to be nominated for this prestigious distinction of a National Blue Ribbon School,” said Robert Solomon, Principal of Frank Lamping Elementary School. “We have a culture of high expectations and our staff, students, parents, and community are committed to excellence. We are proud to see our dedication and commitment be nationally recognized for the extraordinary growth that our students have demonstrated."
“Congratulations to the Pinecrest Inspirada staff and school community. The school has consistently shown strong academic performance as exhibited by their repeated five-star rating,” said Rebecca Feiden, SPCSA Executive Director.
“We are so excited to be nominated for this distinguished recognition!” said Michael O’Dowd, Principal of Pinecrest Academy of Nevada Inspirada. “As a K-8 school, our mission is to partner with the community to prepare students for the high school, college, and career of their choice. We do this by providing instruction commensurate with each student’s ability levels and infusing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) into all core content areas. Our teachers and students have been very successful with this model, and we are proud of their efforts.”
Nominated schools are identified with criteria established by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Blue Ribbon School Program as well as State-specific criteria. The National Blue Ribbon Schools Assessment Panel reviewed Nevada’s nomination packets for the 2021 National Blue Ribbon Schools Program ensuring the information for the State’s process was aligned with and met the eligibility and performance criteria for school nominations. Nominated schools must meet their Annual Measurable Objectives or demonstrate Adequate Yearly Progress on State assessments to receive the National Blue Ribbon Schools award, which will be announced in October 2021.
