    Three Nevada Schools Named 2021 National Blue Ribbon Schools

    CARSON CITY, Nev. –The U.S. Department of Education (USED) todayrecognized three schools in Nevada as National Blue RibbonSchools for 2021. The three schools are:  

    • Charlotte Hill Elementary School, ClarkCounty School District
    • Frank Lamping Elementary School, ClarkCounty School District
    • Pinecrest Academy of Nevada Inspirada,State Public Charter School Authority   

    Charlotte Hill Elementary Schooland Frank Lamping Elementary School are recognized for the “ExemplaryAchievement Gap Closing” category, and Pinecrest Academy of Nevada Inspirada isrecognized for the “Exemplary High Performing Schools” category.

    “Congratulations to the students,educators, staff, families, and other members of the three Nevada schoolcommunities receiving this exceptional recognition,” said Governor Sisolak.“These schools have achieved academic excellence and will serve as models toall Nevada schools.”

    “The tireless work of countless dedicatedschool community members contributed to the recognition of these three Nevada schoolsas National Blue Ribbon Schools, and I commend each and every student,educator, and school family member,” said Jhone Ebert, Superintendent ofPublic Instruction. “It is highly impressive that these schools have earnedthis recognition, and we are thrilled to celebrate them.”

    The Nevada schools recognized arethree of 325 schools nationally. This recognition is a national award givenannually by USED, and is based on a school’s overall academic performance orprogress in closing achievement gaps among student groups. Schools can berecognized in one of two categories:  

    • Exemplary High-PerformingSchools are among the State’shighest performing schools as measured by state assessments or nationallynormed tests.
    • Exemplary Achievement Gap-Closing Schools are among the State’s highest performingschools in closing achievement gaps between a school’s student groups and allstudents.    

    The mission of Charlotte HillElementary School is to take responsibility for the academic, social, andemotional growth of every child to be college, career, and citizenship ready.The school’s namesake, Charlotte Hill, founded Friends of Channel 10 to raisefunds to support Vegas PBS and was well-known in the Las Vegas community forher philanthropy, volunteerism, and commitment to educational organizations.

    Frank Lamping Elementary is committed to excellence in education,with a mission to provide a caring, positive, and safe learning environmentwhere each child is challenged to achieve commensurate with their ability andis provided enriching experiences that foster personal integrity, respect, andresponsibility. Lamping Elementary is named in honor of Frank Lamping who isperhaps best known for helping to establish the middle school concept in theClark County School District. Mr. Lamping gave Clark County 30 years ofdedicated service prior to his retirement.

    Pinecrest Academy of NevadaInspirada is a K-8, nationallySTEM certified, public charter school in Henderson. The school’s purpose is toprovide a safe and nurturing educational environment that maximizes studentachievement and fosters respect for all, and its mission is to unite thecommunity to prepare students for college and career.Their educational programis modeled after specific innovative learning methods and strategies that haveproven successful in raising student learning and achievement.

    All three schools were nominated by the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) in February2021. The coveted National BlueRibbon Schools award affirms the hard work ofeducators, families and communities in creating safe and welcoming schoolswhere students master challenging and engaging content. Now in its 39th year,the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has bestowed approximately 10,000awards to more than 9,000 schools.
