The Nevada Department of Education Hosts More than 200 for an Event Aimed at Reimagining the Future of Education
Las Vegas, NV - The Nevada Department of Education (NDE) is reimagining the future of education driven by broad input from the education field and the Nevada community.
On October 25-26 at the D Casino & Hotel, more than 200 students, administrators, teachers, educators, and community members gathered to establish a shared vision for the future of Nevada's education system.
"To say the last few years in education have been challenging is an understatement," said Superintendent of Public Instruction Jhone Ebert. "Challenges are also opportunities. We must create a way, together, to better prepare our students for what's next and to better support our teachers."
The two-day convening kicked-off the development of the state's Portrait of a Learner project. The Portrait will identify the mindsets, skills, and knowledge each learner will cultivate during their learning journeys inside Nevada schools.
Four unique sessions were held and participants were invited to register for the sessions that best fit their particular roles and interests.
A virtual series of statewide convenings will follow to ensure continued engagement, follow up and progression on the state's education transformation plan. With support from ed.Xtraordinary, powered by Teach for America, and KnowledgeWorks, NDE will continue to bring together thought leaders and community members from across Nevada to build the future of learning, together.
Those interested in ongoing involvement in the Portrait of a Learner project and other Nevada Future of Learning efforts are encouraged to visit portrait.nvfutureoflearning.org to learn more and sign up for updates.
