Superintendent's Teacher Advisory Cabinet (STAC)
Overview
In November of 2018, the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) launched the Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Cabinet (STAC). The STAC is made up of educators who represent school districts across Nevada, including urban, suburban, rural, and charter.
The mission of the Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Cabinet (STAC) is to elevate educators as experts, advisors, and leaders beyond the classroom. The STAC is comprised of exceptional educators from across Nevada who serve the department for two years, meeting on a quarterly basis to engage in robust conversations with NDE leadership, provide feedback that informs Nevada's education policy, and collaborate with peer educators.
A key stakeholder group, the STAC's primary purpose is to inform and advise the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) on initiatives and priorities. Members not only provide insight from their experiences, but also serve as ambassadors in their school communities.
State leadership will look to members of the STAC for input on the Department’s strategic plan (STIP), Social Emotional Academic Development, student achievement, the impact of COVID-19 on teaching and learning, and other topics and initiatives. Over the course of their term, STAC members meet at least quarterly virtually and in person as permitted, with the potential for additional meetings at the request of the Superintendent of Public Instruction. STAC members may receive up to 15 Professional Learning hours per year.
