Teacher Academy College Pathway Program

Overview

Assembly Bill (AB)428 (2023) requires each large school district with more than 100,000 pupils enrolled (currently only the Clark County School District) to offer a Teacher Academy College Pathway Program (TACPP or Program) at every high school in the school district with 250 or more pupils enrolled in grades 9 to 12. A non-large school district or school with less than 250 pupils may offer the TACPP.

TACPP Requirements

  • Large and non-large school districts that offer the Program must advertise and highlight the benefits and advantages of participating in the TACPP.
  • Each high school in the district that offers the TACPP is responsible for assigning a full-time licensed teacher or administrator to the Program who is responsible for implementing the Program at the school.
  • Assess each pupil entering the 9th grade who is interested in participating in TACPP to identify any barriers to the participation in and completion of the Program.
  • Offer internships at elementary, junior high, or middle schools in the district to qualified pupils who participate in TACPP.
  • Provide programs, services, scholarships, and financial aid to assist pupils who participate in the Program in applying for admission to institutions in the Nevada System of Higher Education.

TACPP Benefits to Student

Teacher Academy College Pathway Program provides reimbursement for tuition charges, registration fees, laboratory fees, and any other mandatory fees paid to an institution within the Nevada System of Higher Education by a person who completed the Teacher Academy College Pathway Program and who worked as a full-time, licensed teacher for at least 2 consecutive school years at a public school in this State.

  • Offer employment as a paraprofessional to qualified high school graduates who have completed the Program and are enrolled to become teachers at an institution in the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE).
  • Earn up to 12 units of college credit for courses taken and internships as part of the Program at no cost to the student.
  • Guaranteed admission of students who complete TACPP to an NSHE institution.
  • Tuition and fees reimbursement for students who complete the Program and are working as a licensed teacher in a Nevada public school.
