Program Application & Guidelines
All Distance Learning Courses must be approved and aligned with the Nevada Academic Content Standards, including ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, World Language, Integrated Technology and Computer Science, Fine Arts, Health, and Physical Education. Courses within Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs must also align with CTE standards and policies. Vendors are responsible for updating courses to reflect revisions to Nevada Academic Content Standards within one year of their formal adoption by the Nevada State Board of Education. All materials used in courses must be open and accessible and comply with copyright regulations; copyright violations may result in course denial.
Advanced Placement (AP) courses must include a completed standard-to-course alignment and the approval letter from the College Board as part of the application. Elective courses with misleading titles, including those that share the same name as required credit courses, will be denied.
The NDE Distance Learning Course Application is open annually from August 15 to September 30, and no submissions will be accepted outside this period. Every section of the application must be completed in its entirety to avoid delays in the review process. Detailed instructions for each step of the review are included in the application and the Nevada Distance Learning Course Review Process document.
The Nevada Department of Education reserves the right to request documentation for a course review and may remove a course from the approved list at any time.
All CTE courses must be reviewed and approved by the CTE Office. If you have any questions regarding CTE courses, please email cteinfo@doe.nv.gov.
