Dual Credit

Purpose

Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 389.160 and 389.310 provide the legal foundation for offering high school students access to college coursework. This is referred to as Dual Credit.

Required Documents (submitted by District/LEA)

Each submitted dual credit course must correlate to a Nevada academic high school course and have a corresponding SCED code. This information can be found in the Nevada Academic Course Catalog located on this page. More information regarding SCED codes can be found on the Nevada Academic Course Catalog website.

All documents must be submitted electronically and be ADA compliant. Non-ADA compliant documents will be returned to the requestor for revision. Please use the contact information on this page to address your questions or concerns. The submission packet needs to contain the following:

  1. Letter of Intent - Must clearly identify all partnering institutions of higher education. This letter is addressed to the superintendent, as identified on the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) About our Executive Team page.
  2. Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) -A signed agreement between the district or charter school and the partnering college(s) outlining roles, responsibilities, and expectations.
  3. NDE Dual Credit Submission Form -- Entries of courses must be sorted in alphabetical order by college course code.
    • The SCED code used must be on the list of those previously approved by the Infinite Campus Governing Board. If an appropriate SCED code is not currently available, the LEA must seek approval for the SCED code from ICGB prior to use.
  4. Local School Board Meeting Minutes - Must include the official meeting date and documentation of Local School Board approval for each proposed course.

Submission Process (updated October 2025)

  1. Complete Application Packet containing the required documents outlined below must be submitted to the NDE using the contact information below. Please note submission dates are between September 1 and November 30 of each year.
  2. Submit dual credit courses to (Educational Program Professional and contact information)
  3. The NDE Dual Credit Review Team will review the submitted document packets for 30 days. If it is rejected or returned for corrective action, please comply with it within 10 business days, otherwise, its approval process becomes delayed at the next SBE meeting.
  4. The NDE Dual Credit Review Team/Coordinator will notify you (LEA applicant) once it is submitted to the Nevada Board of Education for an agenda item.
  5. The NDE Dual Credit Review Team/Coordinator will send you (LEA applicant) an invitation/notice to appear on the scheduled deliberation or discussion by the Nevada State Board of Education (SBE).
  6. The NDE Dual Credit Review Coordinator will update the approved list on this website.
