Overview
The Nevada Legislative session is a biennial event that takes place every other year, during which lawmakers from the Nevada State Legislature meet to discuss and pass legislation that will impact the state and its citizens. The session typically lasts for 120 days and is held in Carson City, the capital of Nevada.
The Nevada Department of Education (NDE) plays an important role in the legislative session, as it works closely with lawmakers to ensure that the needs and priorities of Nevada's students and educators are heard and addressed. The department provides expert testimony and analysis, and works to advocate for policies and funding that will support high-quality education for all Nevada students. The Nevada Department of Education also sponsors its own bills every legislative session. During the current legislative session NDE sponsored six bills.
