Committee on Response to Power Based Violence in Schools
Overview
The Committee on Response to Power-Based Violence in Schools was created in 2023 under AB245 and signed into law by then- Governor Joe Lombardo. This Committee is charged with reviewing, studying, and making recommendations regarding power-based violence in schools. The committee will consider the experiences of pupils relating to power-based violence and pupil safety, examine current procedures and protocols for responding to power-based violence that are used in public schools in this state, identify emerging trends and best practices for responding to and preventing power-based violence, identify possible gaps in the services that are available for victims of power-based violence and make recommendations for procedure that will focus on preventing and intervening in disclosures of power-based violence. The committee shall not later than August 1 of each odd numbered near submit to the Joint Interim Standing Committee on Education any recommendations for legislation relating to power-based violence in schools.
