Maggie Carlton Joins the Nevada State Board of Education
CARSON CITY, Nev. - After a distinguished career in the Nevada Legislature, Maggie Carlton joins the Nevada State Board of Education. Carlton honorably served the State of Nevada for 24 years.
"Maggie Carlton is a proven leader and champion for the people of Nevada." said Jhone Ebert, State Superintendent of Public Instruction. "Carlton will be a true asset to the Nevada State Board of Education. I'm looking forward to working with her to improve student outcomes and educator success."
Carlton was the longest-serving female legislator in the Silver State. She is also the first member of the legislature to serve the maximum number of terms in both the State Assembly and State Senate.
"It's exciting to have someone with Maggie Carlton's depth of legislative experience on the State Board of Education," said State Board of Education President, Felicia Ortiz. "The Board has a lot of important work ahead and I know we are going to accomplish great things for children in Nevada with Maggie on our team."
She began her legislative career as a State Senator in 1998. She served in that capacity until she was elected to the Nevada Assembly in 2010. Carlton is known as a fierce advocate for working Nevadans. She served as Chair and Vice Chair of the Interim Finance Committee at various times, long-time chair of the Assembly Ways and Means Committee, and member of numerous other committees, boards, and commissions.
