Nevada High School Graduation Rate Increases for Class of 2025

CARSON CITY, Nev. – The Nevada Department of Education announced on Friday that the high school graduation rate increased for the Class of 2025 compared with the previous year.

The statewide graduation rate was 85.4 percent – up from 81.6 percent for the Class of 2024. In total, 34,175 students graduated this year.
“We saw strong gains in the graduation rate for the Class of 2025 and it’s a testament to the hard work of our students and educators,” said Dr. Victor Wakefield, Superintendent of Public Instruction. “The graduation rate for Career and Technical Education students is particularly notable and reflects the importance of providing students with access to hands-on learning opportunities to gain valuable skills and experience that can lead to high-demand careers.”

Career and Technical Education (CTE) completer students attained the highest graduation rate of all student groups at 98.8 percent.

This group of students was enrolled in an approved CTE program and passed a designated number of courses to be considered a CTE completer. They also qualified to take end of program and workplace readiness assessments.

The percentage of students earning an advanced diploma or college and career ready diploma also increased compared with the previous year.

For the Class of 2025, 24.3 percent of students in the cohort earned a college and career ready diploma – up from 21.4 percent in 2024.

Also, 11.6 percent of students earned an advanced diploma, compared with 11.5 percent the previous year.

School District Graduation Rates

In 12 of Nevada’s 17 school districts, students graduated at a higher rate than the statewide average of 85.4 percent.

Nine school districts showed increases in graduation rates compared with the previous year: Carson City, Churchill, Clark, Lander, Mineral, Pershing, Storey, Washoe, and White Pine.

Eight districts had 2025 graduation rates that exceeded 90 percent:

  • Pershing County School District - 100 percent

  • Lander County School District - 98.5 percent

  • Storey County School District - 97.2 percent

  • Mineral County School District – 97 percent

  • Eureka County School District - 96.6 percent

  • White Pine School District - 93 percent

  • Lincoln County School District - 92.5 percent

  • Humboldt County School District - 90.7 percent

Graduation Rate by Student Race/Ethnicity

  • The graduation rate for students who identify as Hispanic/Latino increased 4.7 percentage points to 85 percent.  

  • The graduation rate for students who identify as American Indian/Alaska Native increased 1 percentage point to 75 percent.

  • The graduation rate for students who identify as Asian increased 1.2 percentage points to 94 percent. 

  • The graduation rate for students who identify as Black/African American increased 8.6 percentage points to 78.4 percent. 

  • The graduation rate for students who identify with two or more races increased 4.2 percentage points to 86.2 percent. 

  • The graduation rate for students who identify as Pacific Islanders increased 4 percentage points to 86.4 percent. 

  • The graduation rate for students who identify as White increased 1 percentage point to 87.2 percent.   

Graduation Rate by Student Special Populations

  • The graduation rate for students from families experiencing poverty increased 3.9 percentage points to 85.1 percent.

  • The graduation rate for students with disabilities increased 6.9 percentage points to 75.1 percent. 

  • The graduation rate for students who are English learners increased 7.3 percentage points to 78.8 percent. 

  • The graduation rate for students who are experiencing transient housing increased 6.1 percentage points to 68.3 percent.  

  • The graduation rate for students in foster care increased 11.3 percentage points to 53.9 percent.

  • The graduation rate for students whose family members are in the military increased 1.9 percentage points to 86.2 percent.
