QRIS Star Rating
QRIS star rating system is used to help families understand the level of quality in child care, preschool, and care programs. QRIS was designed to help parents compare different programs by using the same set of standards.
Nevada's QRIS star rating is a 1 to 5-star level system, but it is not similar to Yelp's rating. All schools that participate in QRIS are doing additional work and putting in efforts more than schools that keep their licensing requirements only.
QRIS does not take the place of a child care license. A child care license shows that providers have met basic health and safety requirements. QRIS is a way of measuring quality beyond health and safety requirements.
Families and providers can search for the star rating of all programs via this link https://stage.worklifesystems.com/ReferralUpdate/UpdateReferral/3510506
They can search for a specific school or all child care programs close to their area. People can choose how many miles they are searching around their location as well. The number of blue stars is the star rating level of a school. For example, if you see 2 blue stars, that means that the school is 2 star level. You will see the licensing report also attached to the school profile.

How is the star rating calculated?
The QRIS star rating is based on the Required Criteria (Hyperlink to the required criteria page) + the assessment scores Hyperlink to the assessments page).
How often each program will be rated?
As soon as a program enrolls with QRIS, they will be placed on the waitlist until their assigned coach contacts them. After that, they will embark on the Steps to Stars phase (STS), which lasts six months. Coaching will NOT be provided on-site during the STS. However, the coach will meet and greet the director and deliver the ERS scale books. During the STS phase, the coach will assist the directors in setting up Easy folio (hyperlink to Easyfolio page) login, assisting them in registering for the required training, (hyperlink required training page) and providing technical assistance to review and submitting all the required documentation (hyperlink to required criteria) for the program to be rated. After six months, the program will be assessed to provide a baseline for the coach to create a Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) (hyperlink to Quality Improvement Plan) focusing on areas for improvement for the next 24 months.
Upon receiving STS star ratings, the programs receive coaching for 24 months and are rated again after each coaching cycle (hyperlink to coaching cycles page) .
Cause for re-rating to occur before rating expires
Programs may receive a new rating prior to their 2 years as long as the barrier does not cost the QRIS system. For example, if the program adjusts their Group Sizes and Ratios, they may be re-rated. Additionally, the QRIS program will pay for one additional ERS assessment within a coaching cycle, if the program and coach agree it would be beneficial and increase the star rating.
