In 2012, the Nevada State Board of Education adopted the History and Contemporary Lifestyles of the Northern Paiute, Southern Paiute, Washoe, and Western Shoshone Curriculum Guide. This initiative was made possible through the efforts of committed individuals who recognized the distinct educational needs of American Indian students in Nevada.

In 2021, the Native American Curriculum Enhancement Project (NACEP) was launched to provide accurate and relevant content reflecting the experiences of Native American communities in the state of Nevada. While the project developed a series of lessons that are still undergoing review, funding for NACEP was unfortunately discontinued. Future availability of these lessons will be available once it has gone through feedback and approval from both tribal representatives and classroom educators.
