Title I, Part A
Overview
Title I, Part A (Title I) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) provides funding to Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or high percentages of students from low-income families. The purpose of this funding is to help make sure all students can meet challenging state academic standards. Federal funds are currently distributed through four formulas based mainly on census poverty data and the cost of education in each state.
