Entry Level Drivers must receive training and demonstrate proficiency in theory training and behind the wheel training. After completing the required training, applicants will still need to ensure they meet all their licensing requirements with the Nevada Department of Transportation. As a school bus Driver, you will be required to have a Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsement on your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). For more information on how to obtain a CDL, visit the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) Training Provider Registry.

Bus Driver Training Manual

This manual was made to meet the curriculum standards for Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) for Class B license and for Passenger and School bus endorsements outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations 49 CFR 380, appendix B/C/D. After completing the required trainings, applicants will still need to ensure they meet all their licensing requirements with the Nevada Department of Transportation. School Bus Requirements and Criteria

The purpose of the State of Nevada Minimum School Bus Standards & Specifications is to provide state transportation personnel with minimum school bus standards/ specifications for all new buses purchased by a district, charter, or private school in Nevada. The Nevada Minimum School Bus Standards & Specifications utilize the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and the 2015 National School Transportation Specifications and procedures found here.

The purpose of the Nevada School Bus Out of Service Criteria (OOS) is to identity defects on a school bus that would require the school but to be placed out of service.
