Overview
On July 1, 2015, the Nevada State Legislature
enacted Senate Bill 391, Nevada’s Read by
Grade Three Act. A primary aim of this new state statute is to promote
effective literacy instruction in grades Kindergarten through 3rd
grade across both public school districts and charter schools of Nevada in
order to ensure that all K-3 students achieve a proficiency level of
achievement in the subject area of reading (as measured by reading assessments
that have been approved by the Nevada State Board of Education).
