Nevada Department of Education Seeks Public Comment on ESSA State Plan

CARSON CITY, Nev. – The Nevada Department of Education is seeking public comment on an amendment to the Nevada Consolidated State Plan under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
The Nevada Department of Education is preparing an amendment to ensure alignment with the state’s education priorities and federal requirements.
The public comment period begins on April 11 and will continue through May 10.
The Every Student Succeeds Act is a federal law that governs K-12 education policy, replacing No Child Left Behind. ESSA emphasizes state flexibility while ensuring accountability for student achievement, particularly for historically underserved groups.
Before submitting the proposed amendment to the U.S. Department of Education, the Nevada Department of Education is committed to gathering public input and ensuring transparency in the process.
Nevada residents, educators, and stakeholders are encouraged to review the proposed amendment and provide feedback during the public comment period.
The proposed amendment is available for public review on the Nevada Department of Education’s website at doe.nv.gov.
