Financial Literacy


This site provides a hub of Financial Literacy information and resources to support the academic achievement and financial success of all students in Nevada.
Content support through the Nevada Department of Education will address essential elements of the financial literacy standards adopted in Nevada in 2018. The Department’s goal is to improve financial literacy of students, parents, and community members in Nevada by:

  • Raising awareness of personal financial literacy;
  • Enhance professional learning for educators on financial literacy issues;
  • Support continued initiatives in financial literacy education.

    Online Resources

    Andson Money provides a series of in-class financial literacy lessons to students K – 12. Young adults facing life-changing choices need a knowledge base and realistic guidelines to make wise financial decisions. There are lessons on needs vs. wants, to using credit wisely, to paying for college.

    Everfi provides interactive and online resources and programs in K-12 financial literacy.

    Federal Reserve Education provides multiple resources, including economic lessons, financial literacy lessons, activities, information, and programs to utilize in the classroom.

    National Endowment for Financial Education provides resources for college planning, financial and decision making, and programs to assist students in financial planning.

    Nevada Division of Insurance provides support to Nevada’s high school educators that will be teaching insurance. The resources include lesson plans, handouts, and activities. These resources are currently available for the following topics: insurance basics, auto insurance, health insurance, home insurance and life insurance.

    Next Gen Personal Finance provides lessons, games, curriculum and community support in financial literacy. Resources includes: checking, savings, credit, budgeting, investing, taxes, insurance, college and career.
