World Language

Virtual Resources During COVID Crisis

World Language fosters the development of communication skills, prioritizes active listening, speaking, reading, and writing for meaningful purposes in culturally authentic contexts, which allows students to graduate from high school with the linguistic and cultural skills to communicate successfully in a global community. The State Board of Education approved the revision of the World (formerly Foreign) Language standards on July 10, 2014. These standards offer a vision of excellence for K-12 world language education and provide the guidance needed to develop high quality world language programs throughout Nevada schools

Nevada students must be college and career ready as well as able to succeed in the global community of the 21st century. Language and communication are increasingly essential in today's changing society. The need for all learners to become competent in their ability to communicate with people of other countries and cultures is now more apparent, due to instantaneous world-wide communication networks and an economy that is globally interconnected.
