CARSON CITY, Nev. – The Nevada
State Board of Education invites interested parties to apply for appointment to
the State Public Charter School Authority (SPCSA) Board. Applications can be submitted online at NDE State Public Charter School Authority Board Application before May 13, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. for
a three-year term, which will begin on July 1, 2022 and conclude on June 30,
2025.
“As we continue to forge ahead in the transformation of Nevada’s
education system, it is imperative that we have diverse, experienced, and
well-rounded voices at the table,” said Jhone Ebert, State Superintendent of
Public Instruction. “Our State Board of Education is looking for qualified
candidates to serve as one of their two appointees to the SPCSA Board, and I welcome
all interested stakeholders to consider applying.”

Charter School Authority-sponsored schools serve more than 50,000 students,
representing 11% of Nevada’s student population,” said Felicia Ortiz,
President of the State Board of Education. “I invite qualified Nevadans to
apply for this opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our
students as well as Nevada’s overall education landscape.”
Per Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) 388A.153, the Nevada State Board of Education is responsible for
appointing two members to the SPCSA Board. Current Board Members are welcome to
reapply to continue serving but are not guaranteed reappointment based on
incumbent status. Members of the SPCSA Board must be residents of the State of
Nevada.
