Nevada Academic Content Standard Connectors

The Nevada Academic Content Standard (NVACS) Connectors were developed by the Nevada Department of Education's (NDE) Office of Standards and Instructional Support in collaboration with district staff, RPDPs and parent groups to create a system of instruction and assessment aligned to the Nevada Academic Content Standards in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. The NVACS Connectors provide teachers with grade level connectors that align to the general education standards in ELA and Mathematics and provide students with significant cognitive disabilities deeper and more enduring exposure to the academic content in preparation for transitional opportunities beyond their K-12 experience.

It is the expectation of the NDE that teachers will begin to align their instruction using the NVACS Connectors in advance of newly aligned assessments. Supports for classroom teachers to facilitate an understanding of NVACS Connectors, as well as technical assistance in aligning instruction is currently under development and will be available to teachers prior to the start of the 2016 school year.
