Statewide Council for the Coordination of Regional Training Programs
Overview
The Statewide Council for the Coordination of the Regional Training Programs has two primary tasks: to support and adopt uniform standards for use by the governing body of each regional training program, and to work with the Office of Parental Involvement and Family Engagement to establish a statewide program for teachers and administrators regarding effective parental involvement and family engagement.
The Council adopts uniform procedures and criteria for use by the governing body of each regional training program (regional training program) to report their evaluations and develop their training offerings; they must ensure that the training provided is inclusive of federal requirements, is appropriate for the type of training offered, and is high quality. The Council reviews and recommends necessary revisions to the 5-year plan prepared by regional training programs, reviews and recommend any revisions to the annual report prepared by regional training programs. They also ensure that each regional training program considers plans to improve the achievement of pupils located within their program’s jurisdiction, as well as the plan to improve the achievement of pupils developed by the State Board; the development of professional development should be guided by those plans.
Working with the Office of Parental Involvement and Family Engagement, the Council must establish a statewide program for teachers and administrators regarding parental involvement and family engagement which includes training for teachers and paraprofessional on family engagement and strategies for effective parental involvement.
The Council also coordinates the dissemination of information to districts, administrators, and educators regarding the training, programs, and services offered by regional training programs, provide information to regional training programs regarding innovative and effective methods to provide professional development, and conduct long-range planning regarding the professional development needs of teachers and administrators in Nevada.
