2 Nevada Students Named U.S. Presidential Scholars

CARSON CITY, Nev. – The U.S. Department of Education announced on Friday that two Nevada students were named as 2025 Presidential Scholars.

Nationwide, 161 high school seniors received the award for demonstrating excellence in academics, the arts, and career and technical education.
Nevada’s scholars are:

  • Roxy D. Jones – Clark High School (Clark County School District)

  • Joshua Park – West Career and Technical Academy (Clark County School District)

“I’m proud of Roxy and Joshua, Nevada’s 2025 Presidential Scholars,” said Governor Joe Lombardo. “These students have exemplified excellence in their academic pursuits and public service initiatives, and they are model students and citizens. Our state is tremendously proud of them.”

The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964. Recipients are selected annually based on their academic success and essays, as well as a demonstrated commitment to community service and leadership.

“Congratulations to Roxy and Joshua for being named Presidential Scholars,” said Dr. Steve Canavero, Interim Superintendent of Public Instruction. “This prestigious designation is one of the nation’s highest honors for high school students. Roxy and Joshua are shining examples of the exceptional caliber of students here in Nevada and I am thrilled that they will represent our state.”
