CARSON CITY, Nev. – The Nevada Department of Education will open a public comment period in April on its annual state application under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

The application for federal fiscal year 2025 – which coincides with state fiscal year 2026 – is now available to view and copies have been disseminated throughout Nevada.

“Our annual IDEA state application is an opportunity to seek the resources necessary to best support our students to help them reach their full potential,” said Jhone Ebert, Superintendent of Public Instruction.

The IDEA application is available for review at the Nevada Department of Education’s Carson City office (700 E. Fifth St.) and Las Vegas office (2080 E. Flamingo Road, Ste. 210).

Federal law requires that the document be circulated throughout the state for a 60-day period prior to final submission to the U.S. Department of Education.

Within the 60-day circulation period, federal law also requires that the state establish a 30-day period to accept written public comments.

Written comments will be accepted from April 1-30. Comments may be submitted electronically at Public Comment for Part B (smartsheet.com).
