Public Comment: Nevada’s ESSA State Plan Amendment

The Nevada Department of Education (NDE) is seeking public comment on an amendment to the Nevada Consolidated State Plan under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). NDE is preparing an amendment to ensure alignment with the state’s education priorities and federal requirements.

The public comment period begins on June 15, 2026 and will continue through July 15, 2026.

The Every Student Succeeds Act is a federal law that governs K-12 education policy, replacing No Child Left Behind. ESSA emphasizes state flexibility while ensuring accountability for student achievement, particularly for historically underserved groups.

Before submitting the proposed amendment to the U.S. Department of Education, NDE is committed to gathering public input and ensuring transparency in the process. Nevada residents, educators, and stakeholders are encouraged to review the proposed amendment and provide feedback during the public comment period.
