It’s #TeacherTuesday and today we’re celebrating Mrs. Edie Guerra from Gunderson Middle School. She plays a key role as a teacher leader within the Clark County School District, mentoring new teachers and those new to science. Her passion lies in empowering educators to recognize the positive impact they make.

#NowHiring NDE is seeking an Educator Licensing Analyst I within the Office of Educator Development, Licensure, and Family Engagement. ? Looking for inspiration for an engaging STEM or STEAM night that connects families and the community? Take a look at how Bracken STEAM Academy in Clark County hosted a fantastic Family STEAM Night using Project-Based Learning (PBL)! ?

Families interacted with QR codes that linked to videos where students identified real-world problems within their school. Then, families worked side-by-side with students to brainstorm and create solutions. ??‍?‍?‍?

For example, one student project tackled the challenge of designing a roller coaster for a new theme park opening nearby—a perfect way to transform “boredom” into hands-on learning and engineering fun! ? Another project explored why a particular plant thrived in a unique spot where no other plants could grow, sparking curiosity and discovery in both students and their families. ??

Bravo to Bracken STEAM Academy @brackenmagnet for bringing learning to life and building a stronger community through STEAM! ??‍?

Imagine taking an everyday object and engineering it to be “smart." Tell us what it would do, how it could help people, and even what might go wrong.

This is an exciting opportunity for students to show off their creativity and problem-solving skills while practicing writing - a crucial skill in engineering. Engineers need strong communication skills to share their ideas, explain complex concepts, and collaborate on solutions. When they noticed teens and pre-teens weren’t visiting local museums ?️, they took action, launching a project to help connect their community with its rich history and culture. This PBL project is a perfect example of the Nevada Portrait of a Learner in action—building curious, collaborative problem-solvers who are committed to their communities. ?✨
