Office of Information Technology

Overview

*The “D” in ADAM stands for Data Services. This unit is responsible for all things related to data collection, verification, and reporting. Our primary responsibility is for the Student Accountability Information Network (SAIN). SAIN consists of many systems working together to create the Department of Education’s data model.

The Data Systems unit also maintains the Prek-12 longitudinal data base which is populated from IC and various external systems and houses the historic transactional data required to be reported by the Department.

The data in the warehouse dates to 2006. The data warehouse is used for all State and Federal reporting, to fulfill public and internal ad-hoc data requests and to link to the Nevada Pre-K to Workforce Reporting system (NPWR).   To better support customers, the Data Systems unit operates a help desk for all data systems under the Team’s purview. This help desk supports Department staff and our LEA partners in all automated student data collection and reporting processes.   The Office of Information Technology (IT) is responsible for the support of all technical devices and services in use in the Department. The IT Office operates and maintains the Department’s network, and server infrastructure, works closely with the State’s Enterprise Information Technology Office (EITS), implements, and maintains the Department’s information security systems, operates the Department’s technical help desk, and administers all user accounts (internal and external) and access to Department resources.
